Dubuque Dog Scouts
Dubuque Dog Scouts, Troop #224 is a local troop affiliated with the national organization, Dog Scouts of America (DSA). "We are a group of dog owners who meet regularly to participate in activities with our dogs, learn new things and benefit the community." (DSA)
Dubuque Dog Scouts received its official status as a troop on February 9, 2013 and is the first and only Dog Scout troop in Iowa. Dog Scouts of America is a 501 (c) 3 non-profit organization that exists "to improve the lives of dogs, their owners, and society through humane education, positive training, and community involvement." (DSA) There are currently Dog Scout troops in 22 states. Dog Scouts of America aims to promote responsible pet ownership and envisions a future in which "all dogs are seen as a useful and welcome part of the community, because people take responsibility for socializing, training, containing, and caring for them."
