"Cindy is one of those delightful people who is both a consummate professional and cares deeply about her clients. I searched hard to find a trainer with her certification, because I wanted to use a positive approach with my puppy. Her reasonable rates put a top-notch training program within reach of our budget--a huge blessing. The in-home lessons were a tremendous benefit, as they allowed Cindy to customize the training plan to our household as well as to our puppy's individual personality. This is not a one-size-fits-all program--Cindy will work hard to make sure that you and your dog have everything you need to succeed! After each week's session, Cindy made sure to send us a set of well-organized instructions for the week, often with helpful videos and links; she also made herself available via email or text for troubleshooting, if needed. She has even continued to check in with us after our 'graduation!' I highly recommend her services as one of the best investments you can make for your dog and your family!"

"Amazing trainer! Do NOT hesitate to hire her. My dog was attacked by 3 dogs in 2 separate incidents, and then developed terrible aggression toward other dogs. He'd growl, bark, and even pull us off the sidewalk trying to get to other dogs. It was embarrassing, dangerous, and frustrating. I tried everything. For more than two years, I worked with my dog alone with not much progress. I even hired two other trainers prior to Canine Connection. Nothing worked. One of the other trainers just met us, and jumped right into telling me everything I did with my dog was wrong, and made a bunch of assumptions about my dog that weren't accurate. Gathered no background. Spent no time with us. Just walked right up and started telling me everything I do with my dog is wrong. That trainer worked with us for two hours, told me to change everything about my relationship with my dog. That session didn't fix the problem. In fact, it got a bit worse for a while.
So, when Canine Connection came out to work with us, I was at the end of my rope but also didn't expect much. But Cindy came in and actually spent time getting to know my dog. She spent HOURS in my home just watching my interactions with my dog. She took a detailed history. She asked about his food and his lab work. She gathered as much information as she could. Then she went on a walk with us to observe my dog's behavior with other dogs. And on that walk, she taught me a technique to use. And guess what? It WORKED. It big time worked. It's like night and day different.
In fact, just today (more than a month since our first session) we ran into my dog's #1 nemesis (the dog who always causes him to react) TWICE on our walk today, and my dog had NO reaction. None. On the same walk, we ran into another dog who always provokes a reaction, and again NO reaction. So, 3 challenging encounters on the same walk, and nothing. I could NOT be more pleased and impressed. And the best part?
It was all so EASY. I started seeing results right away with one simple technique. And it's just gotten better and better over time. And the technique is easy to use and doesn't involve me doing anything to my dog that makes me feel badly (unlike another trainer I hired who wanted me to do something unkind to my dog). I truly cannot say enough good about this trainer. We've been in contact many times since our first session. And she came back to my home to check-in with us again, and to give me more information and support. I tell everyone I know that THIS trainer is the real deal. If you have an issue with your dog, this is the person to call."

Cindy is wonderful! We recently finished a class designed for reactive dogs with our red heeler. Cindy was so encouraging and went above and beyond for us! We’ve seen so much improvement on walks already and have been provided with so many tips and tricks to continue training our dog. She is full of knowledge about dog behaviors and training and has been so helpful! You can tell she really cares about her clients and wants them to see success.

"We used Cindy's services with our Sadie. She immediately developed a rapport with our dog and us. She explained how to use the clicker method, worked with us to ensure we knew when to click and how to handle certain situations, such as jumping on people or "surfing" the edges of the table. Sadie was a fast learner. She was an intelligent dog bred for hunting (Mountain Cur).
We were not aware at the time (thought we did our due diligence), but Sadie came from unsavory beginnings and the breeder allowed us to bring her home at 6 weeks instead of the mandatory 8 weeks. She was also the runt of the group and had some joint issues in her feet. Sadie had some behavioral issues, such as resource guarding. Cindy worked with us to try to correct these behaviors and was always willing and able to take a call regarding them, even after our training sessions were over. While many of the techniques helped with this situation, Sadie was on anxiety and pain medications and we (vets included) believe she may have had some brain issues as well. Our goal was to keep Sadie. We brought her into our family and she became part of our family.
For two years, Cindy was always available to us with any questions/issues we were having. While she was mostly the sweetest girl, Sadie would lash out in certain situations unprovoked. With two children, we worked hard to find solutions. After the final incident when she managed to give my youngest a deep, but small, gash on his foot, we decided we needed to find her a home with no children and humans that could understand her particular needs. I contacted rescues and was told by one "you wouldn't get rid of a child with behavioral issues. You're not working hard enough." I felt like I was failing. Cindy knew the situation and agreed that Sadie was a danger to our children and if she continued, there may be no turning back for her. No one wanted this! Cindy worked with me to help find a home that would give Sadie a chance to be the beautiful, sweet girl that she was. I am so very thankful to her continued support and love for my sweet girl. I am so thankful she knew our situation and understood the implications. I am also very thankful she was so dedicated to ensuring we found the right place for Sadie. In a world where people are so quick to say disparaging things to those that must find their dogs other homes, she understood we had given our all to trying to find solutions that would have allowed Sadie to stay with us: her family.
Fast forward. When we finally decided to get another dog, our Dorothy had some gastrointestinal issues (Parvo puppy). I asked Cindy for some advice about training without food or treats, and she talked me through some things. Cindy is a dog trainer, but she's more than that. She is invested in the families she guides and truly cares for the animals. I have used her methods with Dorothy, and they've worked wonderfully."

"I was fortunate to have found Cindy, after hunting for a fear-free and certified trainer for our 2 pups. She's worked with us since they were about 9 weeks old and I'm beyond thankful. We have herding breeds who thrive on learning and need the mental stimulation. Our dogs adore her, as do my husband and I. Any question we had, she never hesitated to answer or help us understand. She's always been extremely knowledgeable and kind. I can't imagine anyone better to work with our dogs, as well as other's. If you work with her, you'll never regret it."

"Cindy was very helpful in helping us understand we didn't have an aggressive dog, just a scared dog. She showed us the proper way to potty train; teach sit, give, desensitize to doorbell, and walk on a leash. She spent as much time as we needed answering questions and explaining the reasons for doing certain things. She sent follow up emails with video. We would highly recommend her."

"Cindy is absolutely the best trainer I have worked with. She will take the extra time to help both you and your dog practice the lessons. I went to Cindy because my dog (Ally) was overly reactive and tended to drag me on the leash. I was afraid she was going to hurt someone in public. Cindy showed me how to use positive reinforcement training with a clicker to help redirect her behavior. During classes I started to notice a change in Ally’s behavior. She was becoming more confident, happier, loved training with a clicker and starting to become less reactive. Today because of Cindy’s training and the tools she gave me Ally no longer reacts to every person or animal she encounters. She now walks loose on the leash. Ally is able to go into pet stores and pick out her own toy and other public place without reacting all because of Cindy’s positive reinforcement. I cannot thank Cindy enough for what she did and has done for my dog Ally. Because of Cindy , Ally is now a happy well balanced, confident dog. I also was able to adopt another dog an bring it into the house, which would of never happened without Cindy’s training. Thank you so much!'

"My dog was a little older when I took him to Cindy. The continued socialization was great for him. As a matter of fact, my husband commented that it was like having a new dog because he was so different and so well behaved. Cindy taught my dog and I how to communicate and understand each other. Although most people had recognized me as having been great with animals, Cindy really showed me the benefits of repetition, patience and positive reinforcement. As for my dog, he loves our sessions practicing obedience as he sees it as his job or task. Most dogs need a job, it makes them feel complete.
Cindy is all about positive reinforcement and does not promote negativity. Since working with Cindy, I have realized the benefits of the positive reinforcement and now understand better what negativity can do to a dog. Many web sites "rate" a breeds sensitivity. Yes this is true, some dogs are more sensitive than others, just like people. It is important not to break their spirit. Imagine if you were in a foreign country and you did not understand what others were saying to you, then they keep repeating it and get louder and louder until they are yelling. Wouldn't you be upset? That is how a dog feels as they have limited vocabulary and understand our body language and tone much better.
I once watched a documentary on horse training, which is different than dog training, but there are common elements. I remember the trainer said that a horse is a reflection of the owners soul. I really believe this is true with dogs also. You can know a lot about a person by seeing their dog and its actions.
My mom was a well known dog groomer, and I grew up helping my grandfather train his bird dogs. Needless to say I never thought I would need to go to dog school. One spirited Cocker Spaniel changed all that for me. This is why I recommend Cindy with Canine Connection LLC for all of your dog training needs. She is accomplished and can work with all breeds, temperaments, and ages of dogs. I take my endorsements very seriously, especially for animals because it is so important that they have the proper training. Remember, an animal is a reflection of its owner, it is like an extension of the soul......."

"Cindy has been so helpful with our 3 dogs. Being newly married, and bringing together 3 dogs in a new house has been nothing short of insane. She has taken the time to get to know the dogs personalities, and understands what their limits are, and how to address the multiple issues we face. We have seen a drastic change in our three dogs behaviors, and all for the better. We didn't realize some of the behaviors we thought were normal and ok, we're actually setting them back.
She has worked with us on a budget, and is very flexible with our time, considering hubby is in the military, and his work schedule can vary sometimes. Cindy comes to your home, and she has never made us feel like we were bad owners. She has numerous articles and videos that she will send you to help, and is always open to discussing any thing. Please take the opportunity to have a consult with her first, and you will see how great training could be."

"Me and my service dog (seizure response), were a team for over 9yrs. I had called upon Cindy for her expert advice for my service dog was exhibiting negative behavior & breaking commands after a traumatizing experience on a city bus. Cindy immediately showed up the next day knowing how important it was for me to have my service dog with me for my independence. Cindy rode with us on the bus to observe and access my concern using her professional knowledge in animal behavior. Cindy made it so simple and easy for me to understand her instructions on how to use positive reinforcement to correct the negative behavior. By the end of the session my service dog was focused on me and not breaking my commands. I had my independence and my service dog had her confidence back thanks to Cindy."

"We have had a wonderful experience with Cindy. I hired her to help potty train two new puppies . I hired her again to teach in home puppy training. She is very caring and professional. She promptly responds to all emails and questions and genuinely cares about the well being of the puppies and our family. She is also great with children! She is teaching my 7 year old clicker training along with me. I would highly recommend her. She spends a lot of time with us and gives videos and written instructions at each session."

"I was advised to use Cindy as an obedience trainer by my veterinarian. She started working with my German Shepherd when he was 16 weeks, after one training session I was able to see huge changes in his behavior. My GSD has been able to walk on a loose leash with minor pulling by the second one on one training session with her. She uses all positive reinforcements techniques, and he has definitely benefited from that. I've actually had people compliment how well behaved he is for such a young dog. I have all intentions of doing intermediate training with her in the near future. She is very knowledgeable in her field; and goes above and beyond to do what is in the best interest of the dog. Which in turn provides a positive, happy, loving relationship between owner and dog."

"Cindy came highly recommended from several of our friends. We have attended the basic and intermediate courses, and look forward to attending any future class which Cindy offers. There is no one else in the area who trains using clickers. Cindy was very professional, patient, and continuously interacted with us between training sessions. It was obvious from the first day that Cindy has years of training experience. Her passion for what she does is absolutely second to none.
We honestly did not believe our dog would pass the certifications at the end of the course, but Cindy went above and beyond to work with us, and we were amazed to see the improvements in behavior and commands in our dog at the end of the course. We also have several other dogs who have been through training at various locations in different states, and have been most impressed with Cindy. We will definitely sign up for any future courses she offers without hesitation. If you have not tried Cindy, I would highly recommend you give her the opportunity. You will not be disappointed!"

I was lucky enough to find a clicker training class with Cindy here in Waynesville Missouri . I have a 2 year old Schnoodle mix, Delilah, who was shy and skittish, I had hoped to teach her some basic skills, but Delilah learned so much more than that! By the end of our classes with Cindy, Delilah had learned enough to pass the CGC test, plus some more; but best of all Delilah has blossomed out of he shy little shell! Cindy took the time to help modify training. Delilah was afraid of the clicker click, Cindy was able to find a way to work around Delilah's fear.
One of the best part of classes has been the growing of my bond with Delilah, our bond has grown almost as much as she's blossomed in her personality! Whenever I had any questions about dog behavior or needed guidance, Cindy was always able to help. Through personal experience and online resources she was able to help guide and mentor us; she is beyond knowledgeable. Her passion is dogs and it shows, she cares on a personal level about each and every dog in our class. It's been a HUGE blessing to have had the opportunity to work with Cindy. I am beyond grateful, and highly recommend Cindy to anyone and everyone."

She really helped me become a team with my dog Dozer! He was up for any challenge she gave us! The positive approach she uses was so wonderful."
"I took Dozer to his vet appt. today and he was friendly to everyone, did not attempt to jump on anyone, and sat and laid at my feet while waiting to go back even when some other dogs there were being wild. Everyone complimented me on what a well behaved, awesome dog he was. Cindy Ludwig, I gave your training all the credit!"

"Cindy came to my home and worked with my two dogs. I have a Deaf Great Dane/Heeler Mix and a Siberian Husky. Our main concern, in working with Cindy, was to help my Deaf dog's separation anxiety. He was escaping the kennel (scratching himself up, and breaking collars) he had to be in the kennel or he would destroy the house (chew on walls, dig up carpet, and destroy furniture.)
Cindy came to our home for a behavior consultation and instantly helped us create a plan for my dogs. She helped give us ideas for crate training, house training, calming agents, and extra connections for working with Deaf dogs. She wrote us a plan to work with our dogs everyday! She helped us find an anxiety vest that would fit our dog (online, to help us save money!) She came in and pointed out other actions my dogs had that could be causing anxiety, such as guarding our fenced in yard, feeding the dogs inappropriately thus encouraging fights over food/treats, and basic changes in commands to be more effective communicators with our dog.
All the kennel games would help our dog, then something would happen (we assume people coming to the house when we were out) and he would escape his kennel. We worked and worked but as this continued, he knew he could get out and no amount of training was helping him. However, we applied the same training as we would have in the kennel in our home and now both dogs are able to roam the house free while we are gone at work. They don't use their kennels at all anymore, except having free access when they want a break and lay down.
I highly recommend Cindy! The work she did in our home over the span of a few hours was so beneficial!! We are so grateful we reached out to her!
She was recommended by a friend of ours with a puppy who had toy guarding and grew aggressive when toys were around. Cindy also was able to help my friend and her dog! My dogs both have so much more confidence and we are able to take more walks and do obedience training now that we aren't having to focus on my dog's separation anxiety and the resulting messes. We only met with Cindy once and did follow ups via email, as she has moved out of state, but she stayed in contact and gave me as many resources as she could to help!!"

"We have 2 sisters who spent the first 18 months of their lives in a bad Los Angeles shelter. They love us to pieces, but have missed many essential and normal training opportunities in those formative years.
Most of their behavior was fear based (per Cindy) and what we thought of as normal training was not working. Cindy has given us many insights to their behavior and has helped us turn many behaviors around in one session.
Cindy's approach teaches us to respect the dog and shape the behavior in ways they understand. Her understanding of dog behavior is remarkable.
I am so glad we found her and am anxious to continue working with her on further training when the holidays are over. I am signing up for her entire training program because I am so delighted to find someone as experienced and respectful as she is."

"I am so grateful to Cindy for helping me connect in such a positive way with my high-energy lab mix, June Imogene. She has taught me a common sense approach to working with June, in a way that is both fun and stress-free and that has helped me shape June’s responses to her environment. Cindy always patiently explains and demonstrates the techniques to help me work with June, and presents them in a really logical way. Cindy is helping me now with assimilating a new puppy into the household. It’s so reassuring to know that I can contact Cindy and get solid, down-to-earth advice and encouragement. All I can say is, 'Thanks a million!'”
"I am so grateful to Cindy for sharing her expertise in force-free dog training. She is a caring, compassionate and highly professional teacher who taught me the skills I needed to work with our rather rambunctious young lab. The force-free methods she teaches really work, and Cindy explains them clearly and demonstrates them in a way that just makes sense. She had great insight into what Junie (the dog) and I needed to learn, and patiently worked with us, gently reinforcing the methods with us over a period of several months.
Later, when we were contemplating getting a new puppy, I asked Cindy for advice in bringing him into our household. Again, Cindy's help was invaluable. She advised us on the appropriate use of a crate for the puppy and positive reinforcement for both dogs, and the two quickly became best friends. Again, I am so grateful to Cindy and would recommend her to anyone who wants to develop and maintain a great, and mutually fulfilling relationship with their dog."

"We have been blessed with the best trainer! Our puppy had a rough start with a previous owner who eventually gave up on her. When we rescued her at the age of 5 months, our puppy was shy & very frightened of most people. Cindy's knowledge of socialization skills and teaching our puppy to learn to trust was phenomenal.
I have raised dogs my entire life and thought I understood dogs very well. But I have learned so much more from Cindy. The way Cindy trains is amazing. It is unique. Every dog has individual needs and she has taught me that each dog has specific training skills and that there are various ways of approaching & achieving those desired skills. I thought I knew from the experience of raising dogs, how to train. I did not.
I am confident that Cindy truly desires to help my puppy become the most social, well behaved & trained pet. Sit & stay can't even begin to touch the surface of how Cindy has trained me to care for this special puppy. Training me, training my puppy, now after all these years I finally get how real training is suppose to be. Me & my puppy adore all that we are learning!"

"Cindy helped our two dogs with anxiety, resource guarding, and preparing for a new baby all over the span of a little over two months! The progress we have seen towards our goal has been tremendous in such a short amount of time. Friends and family have already noticed an improvement. It was the highlight of our dogs’ week, and they already miss her. We have already recommended her to several friends and co-workers!"

"I can't tell you how much I love your clicker classes. It has produced amazing results with my Ridgebacks. As you know I show my dogs and was never too interested in teaching my dogs to sit. Clicker training has been so much more for us. It's not only taught my dogs manners, but given them so much confidence. It's been wonderful to watch them think! We will be perpetual students. Thanks so much Canine Connection LLC"

"I was required to take an obedience class when we got our new puppy so I thought it'd be a good opportunity to try something new. I always thought clicker training was intriguing...but wasn't sure I believed in it much. Cindy did a great job of explaining the method to me and my children. She shared lots of information with us and was available for questions whenever I had them between classes. I was really impressed with how easy it was to clicker train our pup. He loved our sessions and really enjoyed learning new things. It was great to sit back and watch him think things out for himself. I am so pleased Cindy gave us such a great start to the rest of his life. He has such a good attitude about learning and training. Having a dog happily perform the things you ask of it is so much better than having a dog going through the motions. Thanks to Cindy for teaching us all something new, fun and useful!"

"Scooter focuses on me, obeys better, loves our training sessions and we have a closer bond. Cindy clearly explained her training approach and how the dog was interpreting what we were doing. Cindy also spent time with each of the students & dogs (kind of a mini one-on-one) to address training issues specific to each dog. Lastly, Cindy would answer any and all questions/training & behavioral issues even if those questions/issues were outside of the course objectives. It's hard to think like a dog but now I feel I have a better understanding of a dog's mind and how a dog learns."

"It is amazing how the six weeks have helped Banjo. He is much more well behaved. The thing I really came to class for was to get him to get along with dogs in the neighborhood and it has really worked. There was a lot of one on one time and I could ask any question about situations I was having a problem with. Banjo and I have bonded much more than we had before the class. The class met way more than my expectations. Banjo has greatly improved and settled down."

"Cindy worked with my female German Shepherd's 'aggression' issues and I was extremely impressed that within 15 minute she had Ruby's full attention and cooperation - all with positive reinforcement. I have 2 other dogs that have been in training with Cindy Ludwig/Canine Connection, LLC. One of them is a 2 1/2 year old energetic male German Shepherd that has been difficult for me to train. In the short time that Cindy has been working with him, Morgan has gained confidence, learned to focus on the task at hand and the clicker training has actually calmed him down. I would highly recommend Cindy and her positive reinforcement training for any dog."

"I knew I wanted to get my 5 month old German Shepherd, Grace, into some type of training class but I wasn't really sure where I wanted to take her. I randomly stumbled upon Canine Connection while searching online, and I'm so glad that I did! I love watching my dog's excitement as she thinks about what she's doing and finally figures out what behavior I'm looking for. I think my favorite part of taking classes with Cindy, though, is the fact that she's always available to help. There were many days when she stayed after class to discuss one-on-one issues with me or another student (even if the specific issues weren't part of the training plan.) The lessons were always personalized to fit the needs of the individual dogs in the group. Cindy has always been willing to give advice through email or phone, and even stays in contact now that we are not currently enrolled in a class with her. I really feel that she goes above and beyond, and has each dog's best interest at heart."

"Stella & I participated in the Fall beginners class at Canine Connection. We traveled from the Quad Cities to see what this clicker training was all about. We had a great experience learning a new way of training without forcefulness. We learned a lot of the basics but also learned how to make clicker training work in any situation. Stella is a very enthusiastic canine & responded well to the training. I learned how to keep her focused. Our bond with each other also seemed to grow during the course of the class. We both looked forward to class every week & had a great time. Thanks, Cindy, for not only a fun time but making learning fun!"

"Cindy is very attentive to the needs of dogs! She is so in tune with them! She's the most patient person I know with dogs! She doesn't try to fit training to the dog. She doesn't use any cookie-cutter type training. If one way doesn't work, she will change the criteria to fit the dog. She's also very good with the owners. She talks to them and explains things so they can understand. She never gives up on any dog! She is so qualified, not just in dogs but also in wolves. I would recommend Cindy Ludwig and Canine Connection to anybody!"

"Cindy, I just want to tell you that your class was the best thing we could have done for Matilda. She is a smart dog, but a little unruly because she is so young. Your class on clicker training really helped us to make her understand the proper way to act and communicate with us. Thank you so much, you are the kindest and most patient person I have ever met. Thanks again."

"When we brought another dog in our house to be a companion for our son with disabilities, we knew it had to be a smart dog, and we knew we'd have to train it, and train it well, in a very effective an humane manner. Any dog we had would need to be safe around our child. So when we brought home Bruno, the white American Eskimo dog in the pictures above, we called Canine Connection, who came highly recommended to us by friends and our vet.
Canine Connection uses a clicker to help you connect with your dog. The methods used are not only effective, they're not unsimilar to the ways our highly trained team of medical and educational pros work with our son, to be honest! Just as our son has exceeded our expectations, so has Bruno!
Clicker training helps engage his active mind, and builds a bond with him. Knowing we're doing 'homework' is the highlight of his day! Even better, using a positive method of training, instead of one that physically hurts the animal, means we have a good relationship with our dog instead of one of fear, and I feel so much safer as a mom knowing I have a dog that feels loved in our house. If we had used shock collars, I'd be too afraid to keep my dog in the same room as any of my kids, even with supervision.
I need well trained, happy dogs in my home. Clicker training builds a great foundation. With it, we can add to it, and do more tasks, since it is logical and builds on previous knowledge of the owner and dog. We hope in time to work on making Bruno a service dog when my son is older and will need one to navigate the streets of our local town. Because of the methods we use, I know this will be possible. My son can have the independent life we want for him.
This is the ONLY trainer in town that uses this method, and I am very lucky that I was able to find someone here to do this."

"We live in West Des Moines and our 6 year old lab, Wrigley, had been growing increasingly aggressive with other dogs over the last few years. He had previously loved meeting new dogs and playing but after a knee surgery that kept him confined to the house for almost 4 months he started acting nervous and snapping at new dogs.
Even though Cindy lives in Dubuque and we were in West Des Moines I knew we had to work with her. I made many many phone calls around our area and the state and she was one of the best out there.
We took Wrigley to Dubuque for a 3 hour consultation with Cindy...she was extremely thorough in learning about his background and behavior tendencies. Wrigley was nervous about being in a place as usual, but he immediately warmed up to Cindy and was like putty in her hands.
Cindy spent most of our time with her in Dubuque getting to know Wrigley and getting to know us so that she could figure out the best way to help us make a plan. She helped us understand all of the possibilities that were making Wrigley act out towards other dogs. Then she walked us through the basic clicker training and taught us ways to help introduce Wrigley to other dogs slowly and in a way that will elicit a positive response. He responded great!
After our consultation it was up to us to work with him regularly back home. Cindy was wonderful in communicating with us whenever we had a question and checks in often to see how he is progressing. Since we live so far apart Cindy offered to use video to help with the training so that she could show us new techniques and see Wrigley's progress.
Wrigley has been making a lot of improvements because of the training strategies that Cindy taught us! I don't think he'll ever be Mr. Social again but we're starting to feel more confident and comfortable when we encounter a new dog. He gets to play with his old friends again and has even had a few spontaneous play sessions with new dogs, which was unheard of in the past!
Since we've been working with Wrigley using Cindy's techniques we've noticed that he seems more confident, curious and attentive. Our other lab, Tiger, also really enjoys the new learning and training sessions!
I think the most valuable part of working with Cindy was that she spent so much time getting to know Wrigley as an individual dog and making the training specific to his/our needs...she definitely is not a one size fits all trainer!
Cindy has a lot of knowledge to share and I'm happy that we got to work with her, I wish Wrigley could spend a month learning from her because even though we are doing our best at implementing the techniques with him, Cindy seemed to just have a natural connection with him!. Thank you for all your help Cindy!"

"I live on a farm and my goal is to have free ranging chickens, but I wasn't able to let the chickens out of their enclosure until I called Cindy Ludwig of Canine Connection. Our dog, a Border Collie/Australian Shepherd/Blue Heeler mix was killing our chickens whenever she had the opportunity! My husband tried tying a dead chicken around her neck but it didn't work.
I found out about Canine Connection from my vet and called Cindy to see if she could help. Cindy really listened to what I needed out of training. My first request was to get Elly to stop killing my chickens! I found Cindy quite knowledgeable about different dog breeds and their natural instincts. She explained that it was Elly's natural instinct to herd, and even nip at the heels of the livestock. She explained that Elly was very intelligent and needed mental stimulation and a job, so we built Elly an agility course out of things we found around the farm.
Cindy worked with Elly and me to teach us to better communicate with each other and work as a team. I told Cindy that I would like Elly to help me round up the chickens and so she taught me the rudiments of herding, and we were able to teach Elly to not only stop killing the chickens, but to work with me to round them up! We used a training method called clicker training which is the use of a clicker along with positive reinforcement.
The clicker makes a sound that Elly recognizes to know she has done something I like. It is a great teaching tool! Using clicker training Cindy showed me how to get Elly to voluntarily focus on me and look to me for direction and guidance. I now know how to get Elly's attention and change her behavior without having to resort to yelling or getting angry with her, which didn't work anyway.
Cindy's method of training has caused me to develop a different kind of relationship with Elly - it is almost like a friendship. It is as if we have respect for each other. I think this was only possible through positive reinforcement training.Years ago before I knew about clicker training I took a different dog to traditional training where I was taught that I had to be the 'Alpha.' I will say that positive reinforcement training is much more effective and the results are fantastic! Clicker training is great! It is the best experience I have had with dog training!"

"Clicker training is an invaluable tool when trying to teach Duey anything now! Clicker training helped his separation anxiety by enjoying going into his crate, and when he sees his crate treats he sprints right into it! We couldn't be happier with the tools we learned in your classes or the end result of Duey being a more confident, well behaved, and mentally active member of the Family! Thank you from both Ashley and I! "

"I called Cindy for help with my five-year-old blue merle Shetland Sheepdog. I began fostering Montana and for seven months I would have to carry him outside to eliminate. Based on his history he had developed a severe case of anxiety. Unfortunately, because of the high level of anxiety he was experiencing, I was unable to train him to go outside on his own. Cindy came to my house and did an in-home consultation. Moving forward, she came to my house for four sessions with Montana. Cindy's multi-discplinary approach is vital to the success of rehabilitating your pet. She worked with my veterinarian and me and I got Montana a prescription for an anti-anxiety medication. After a month on the medication I was able to work with Montana and he was not so anxious. Today, I am very happy to say that he goes outside on his own to eliminate and he is slowly becoming more confident. I want to stress the importance of a Cindy's approach with training, positive reinforcement. We would have never seen Montana's progress if it wasn't for the approach employed by Cindy. I would like to say thank you...sooo much! Montana says thanks too!"

"In September of 2010, I received my life-long dream of owning a dog. Because the previous owner did not do any type of formal training and because the dog only had minimal exposure to other people and other animals, I felt I needed to do something to help my dog be happier and more confident in his surroundings. It was recommended to me that I contact Cindy Ludwig, which I did. Cindy is a Certified Dog Trainer in the Clicker Method of Positive Reinforcement Dog Training. Looking back, that decision to contact Cindy was the best decision I could have made.
In October my nervous and fearful little dog (who was 20 months old at the time) and I walked for the first time through the doors of Canine Connection LLC. In clicker training I learned how to train my dog to intentionally perform desired behaviors by rewarding him with a desired consequence (treats, praise, petting).
My once nervous and fearful little dog is now unafraid and confident in his ability to perform desired behaviors and does so with the slightest of cues from me.
I was reading the newspaper one morning when I came across an article about a dog trainer who uses a shock collar to train dogs. My first reaction was, “You have got to be kidding; who in their right mind would want to train their dog by shocking them.” I guess as a society we expect that our pets should be intrinsically motivated to behave. Punishment seems to be a widely accepted method of training, and perhaps for a variety of reasons: 1) quickly and easily administered 2) terminates undesired behavior quickly (although usually only temporarily) and 3) reinforcing to the trainer. This type of training (learning) only produces reflexive or automatic behavior and is acquired without awareness. The animal only performs the desired behavior to avoid punishment.
On the other hand, positive reinforcement training uses praise/treats to reward your dog for doing something that you want him to do. Your dog will work to earn his reward. The reward makes your dog more likely to repeat the learned behavior. Positive reinforcement is a powerful tool for shaping and changing your dog’s behavior.
I highly recommend The Clicker Method of Positive Reinforcement Dog Training and Cindy Ludwig as a Certified Dog Trainer for the following reasons:
1) The clicker always sounds the same, as opposed to voice commands
2) The meaning of the clicker never varies. Its meaning is clear; a reward is coming because of the behavior the dog performed immediately prior to the sound of the click
3) The reward is immediate and pleasurable and one the dog will work to earn
4) Because the dog has learned and understands the desired behavior, he retains it and the behavior is easy to recall even years later.
5) Cindy is a very dedicated trainer, and she believes in what she teaches.
She is very patient and has a very positive attitude.
Clicker training does take time and it does take patience. However, the rewards for you and your dog are worth it. Your dog will behave with eagerness and purpose rather than out of habit in order to avoid punishment. My dog and I have developed a very strong and lasting relationship; one built on loyalty through mutual trust and respect and I feel that I have Cindy to thank for that."

"I was interested in continuing some training with my Shihpoo, Wrigley, but wasn't sure where I wanted to do that. I drove by
Canine Connection LLC one day and thought to myself, 'This might be the place for us.'
I contacted Cindy and we were soon enrolled in 'Intermediate Training.'
I am so impressed with the knowledge that Cindy was able to pass along to me and the flexibility that her class offered. Cindy listened to my wants and concerns and always addressed any behaviors I wanted her to address. She always found a way to make class fun! One of Wrigley's favorite things to do in class was running through the agility tunnel! Wrigley learned tricks like high-five, wave hello/goodbye, dance, and turn. We also worked on down, leave it, and come when called.
Cindy has strategies and techniques for every behavior. I highly recommend Cindy and Canine Connection LLC to any dog owner who would like some training techniques and bonding time with their 'best friend.' I look forward to the next class that Wrigley and I take with Cindy, I think Wrigley would be a great student for her 'Focus Training' class!"

"I honestly have to say, I did not believe in clicker training, until I tried it with Cindy at Canine Connection LLC. I did not understand how this little clicker device you hold in your hand can do more than your voice. I have a dog rescue. Cindy has helped us, through clicker training, to help a dog with dog reactivity, a dog that was mouthing, and a dog that was an escape artist. It is amazing, once you understand the technique, what you can do with it. I think the best reason I like it is, the dog is learning without being intimidated or scared. The dog actually enjoys learning, because they are not being treated harshly."
